15th Annual Paddle Tennis Tournament at the Pittsburgh Field Club The tournament was once again organized by chairman John Harford and 2 Fox Chapel seniors, Katie Walker and Andy Sieber for their senior project this year. Both seniors helped in designing and mailing of all the invitations and the letters to prospective contributors, collecting the prizes and in planning the event. There were well over 20 prizes that they helped to collect including a signed hockey stick from Mark Recchi of the Pittsburgh Penquins which he had recently used to score a goal with. The winners of the tournament were Kyle Balliet and Ryan McKenna who beat optimist member Ron Morosky and Jackie Conomikes in the finals. The winners of the consolation flight were also newcomers Alan Shukrow, a past board member of the North Hills Community Outreach and Roy Leonard. They beat the perennial Todd Nagelson and last years consolation winner Susan Mah. The players and spectators were also entertained by live music by The Cedar Run Band and other talented attendees which added to the always festive atmosphere. This years tournament marks the 15th year of the event for the optimists and 25th (and last) year that John Harford has run this tournament. The Club would like to thank John for all the time and effort he has put into making this such a fun event for so many great years. Thank You!!! |
