Pittsburgh Family Bike Ride 2010 |
The Pittsburgh Family Bike Ride will be on Sunday afternoon October 10, 2010. This easy 5 mile loop on the flat trails is a very safe ride for children. We will start at 1:00 PM from the REI store at the SouthSide Works. This event is free for everyone. Our goal this year is 400 children. Help us introduce the Pittsburgh bicycle trails to more children by telling parents about this event. Cookies and juice will be provided by the Pittsburgh North Optimist Club. If you would like to help with this event or have questions, send an email to: info@pittsburghoptimist.com
Course: From the REI Store, we will ride down the South Side trail to the Smithfield Bridge, then cross the bridge on the sidewalk and take the ramp at the end to connect with the Eliza Furnace Trail (jail trail), ride to the Hot Metal Bridge and cross on the sidewalk back to the REI Store. If the kids want to keep going, we suggest riding up the South Side Trail from the REI Store past the Steeler practice field. This is not a race, so ride slow and enjoy the day! MAP
